Also known as… GT Bassy!
From an early age, music has been an integral part of Gavin’s life. He played piano at the age of eight, and then moved onto violin, saxophone, and guitar, before finally (at the age of sixteen) finding his niche as a bassist. During these early years, and with many thanks to a very well connected and inspirational music teacher, Gavin had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such greats as Dizzy Gilespe, Chuck Mangione, and The Count Bassie Orchestra.
As life continued and tastes evolved, Gavin’s love for reggae began when he moved to California and toured with the internationally acclaimed artist, Tippa Irie. From there, he went on to write a number one song (Too Much Pressure) on the Billboard Magazine Reggae charts for the band Manazart (formerly known as Brave New World) with legendary producer, Bobby Summerfield.
More recently, Gavin’s credits include touring and working with numerous reggae giants such as Black Uhuru, The Meditations, Lee Scratch Perry, Sister Nancy, and Yami Bolo, just to name a few. Today, you can find Gavin on the road or recording with Pato Banton, Better Chemistry, and numerous other bands.
